This was a birthday treat from Chinyee, and I requested for "anything that's beef" because I live in a no-beef household, and this was one of my first few meals after the no dine-in restrictions were lifted.
I usually steer clear from restaurants along Boat Quay because they scream TOURIST TRAP, so I guess that's why I had never heard of Yakiniquest. But the reviews were great, and it's a birthday treat (hahaha reckless decisions when my money isn't involved) so what's the worst that could happen? There's a Macs just down the stretch, anyway.
Beef Tendon Stew. This was soooo good. I would gladly have this alone as a main.
Beef Somen at the back, and Wagyu Sashimi in the front. There's two different cuts of sashimi.. can't remember what's what. The Beef Somen had a questionable texture and tasted like bak kwa. (I don't like bak kwa)
Beef Tongue. I've had beef tongue before in Japan, but the texture of this was completely different from the ones I've had. This was super chewy like a fishball. We asked the staff that was grilling the meats for us (you don't have to do any grilling at all) and he shared that the entire tongue is way bigger than we think, and different parts of the tongue has a different texture, depending on how much the muscles were worked. So, the tip of the tongue would have a different texture as compared to the back of the tongue which was rarely used.
Chateaubriand. This was super tender.
I think this is the same cut as one of the sashimi we had. Super flavourful.
This was my favourite. It's their signature Yakisuki, a grilled marinated Sirloin, dipped in egg. Soooo good.
Palate cleanser
(can't remember what this is)
Birthday special! They had a musical box (a cow design, no less) that played the birthday song since singing wasn't allowed. It's so cute hahah.
Cold Somen
Black Sesame Ice Cream
谢谢妳老朋友
