My last day in the Faroe Islands went a little like this: I woke up to a gloomy sky and thought. hmmmm I hope my flight out won't get cancelled.

I spent the morning exploring the downtown of Tórshavn.

I didn't get to explore much, because it started raining and got so windy that it was nearly impossible to walk.

That's us seeking shelter in a building.

I nearly lost my footing a couple of times, and the whole time I was just thinking how lucky I was that I was not out hikng in this weather, and thank goodness I'm flying out.

I even had time for another drink hahaha

I spent a good bulk of time in a charming local record store, and tasked the record store guy with picking me three albums: 1) His favourite English album of a Faroese band, 2) His favourite Faroese album of a Faroese band, and 3) The biggest Faroese act which he doesn't have to like

I haven't given them a spin yet, but from what I heard from his Spotify playlist that morning, our musical taste shouldn't be that far off.

Anyway, when I brought up about the possibility of a flight cancellation due to the weather during our conversation, he said this: Nah it'll be fine. This is nothing. Don't panic on the flight, trust the pilot and the plane. You'll be alright.

Who am I to doubt a local who has seen much more of this weather than I have?

My flight wasn't cancelled - as assured - but slightly delayed. But here's the fun part: there was a moment when the aircraft gilded horizontally while ascending. You know that feeling of weightlessness? Yeah, that. Screams ensued - all from tourists, I suppose the locals would be unfazed.
I looked at my neighbour, and she looked exactly like how I think I looked: eyes wide open in shock.

The aircraft probably glided for just a few seconds, but the remainder of the ascend was terribly turbulent. It kind of reminds me of the movie Skull Island, where they had to fly through the storm to get to the island.

What a ride!
