Striking another one off the list with Ehren.

The interior (and service) of the restaurant exudes two star vibes. Won't be long before they nab that second star, I think!

Ehren and I both wanted to order this same drink - Sydney, a gin based cocktail with rose and elderflower.

But it's lame to order the same things at a new place, so I chose to be the bigger person (HAHA TAKE THAT, EHREN) and ordered Seoul, a vodka based drink with makgeolli and yuzu.

Snack #1: Foie Gras, Verjus, Kyoho Grape

Snack #2: Shellfish, Kombu Brioche, Myoga

My favourite dish of the night. I'll be happy to have this alone if they made it bigger like a lobster roll.

Snack #3: Tuna Tartare, Perilla, Ikura

It's not just any tuna tartare, but an otoro tartare. Looks exquisite but I'll be equally happy with just a slice of otoro without frills hahaha

Snack #4: Tempura, Cuttlefish, Kimchi Salt

Interestingly, I tasted perilla in this snack, but not in that tuna tartare snack.

Snack #5: Gimbap, Wagyu Beef, Comté Cheese

Not sure what the comtĂ© cheese was supposed to do other than providing a visual element because I couldn't taste it. The seaweed was nice and crispy, but also had a strong flavour that overpowered all the other elements, including the beef, which was marinated in two ways - bulgogi and gochujang.

Snack #6: Chawanmushi, King Crab, Junsai, Ikura

First Dish: Sawara, Caviar, Ponzu

Jeju Abalone, Porridge, Seaweed Uni

I guess this is like the Korean equivalent of the Japanese rich man bowl (Wagyu beef bowl with foie gras, uni, GOLD LEAF... all the expensive works) The uni was kind of redundant here, but hey, i'm not going to complain about having uni.

Kinki, Razor Clam, Radish, Gochujang
20211001_203314
Challans Duck, Jangajji, Carrot Sansho, Bacon

The staff "overheard" us trying to figure out what Jangajji is before the dish came, which is basically just pickled vegetables, and this made us self-conscious because we don't recall speaking that loudly?

Anyway, I think it's more a case of eavesdropping than overhearing us because similar incidences happened all night and I swear we are not one of those annoying loud speakers!!

Korean BBQ, Iwate Wagyu, Gobo Rice, White Kimchi

The beef was so good!!

Apple, Champagne Foam, Cucumber, Mint

Not a big fan of cucumber in my dessert (and drinks) so this was mehhh to me. Though it worked as a palate cleanser.

Corn Mille-feuille
20211001_212513
Corn in many ways. There was grilled corn, popcorn, corn custard, corn ice cream, which I thought is an ingenious dessert! And I had two plates of this because Ehren doesn't like corn. Yay to extra food always hahah

Petit Fours: Jujube Choux Puff, Toasted Barley Pistachio Tart, Bergamot Pate de Fruit

The bill came up to $342.50/pax :x A truly two-star experience with a phantom second star.
