Cure
20200811_215434edit

Had dinner at Cure for Ter's birthday back in August. It was a slow Tuesday night with only two covers (including us), and it felt like they were still sluggish from having just reopened from circuit breaker. Either way, both are still poor excuses for a very underwhelming experience.

Amuse-bouche of various things which left no impression.

Cured Salmon with Beetroot. This was my favourite dish of the night, accompanied with a naan-looking and tasting thing which they call an Irish Potato Bread.

Agnolotti with peas. Mehh.

Squid noodles with a laksa flavoured foam. This reminded me of Restaurant Ibid's squid noodle dish!

Snapper two ways. Tasty, but not really imaginative to be honest.

Beef Short Rib Bo Ssam.

Really tasty, but I think I can easily get something similar at a decent korean restaurant?

Burrata Ice Cream.

Ter and I love burrata, so we were naturally curious how burrata ice cream would taste like. However, it was disappointingly tasteless, and we have since had nicer Burrata Ice Cream - which proves that the fault lies in the execution and not the ingredient.

Deconstructed Black Forest.

Petit Fours (with a strong shot of Irish Coffee)

All in all, nothing was bad, but nothing was distinctively good either.

It felt like there wasn't a strong theme tying the menu together, and calling it fusion cuisine with asian influences is just lazy. What was presented was seemingly Around Asia in Seven Dishes-esque with nothing stellar. Where do you want to go? Down south with laksa, or up north with bo ssam? Shame.
