Truthfully, Chiang Mai wasn't in my list of "Places to Visit". And it's true that visiting a place with no expectations is the best because I was constantly surprised. My only complain is that I packed the wrong clothes, lol.
I received wrong information that it would be somewhat cold. Or at least cooling. Even though I checked the weather forecast before going, and even though the numbers "30 degrees" were glaring at me, I decided to go ahead with people's advice since, well, they've been there before. And so I packed sweaters and long pants.
No surprises that I nearly died from the heat. Not going to complain about the weather in Singapore for a while.
I even got sunburnt, even when I wore long sleeves and pants! What sorcery.

It was evening by the time we got there on the first day, so we decided to head over to one of the malls for dinner! We wanted our stomach to ease into the food there, so we decided not to jump into street food right away.

MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Center!
Also, no trip to Thailand is complete without eating at FUJI.
My plan was to eat there everyday. But we only managed to have 2 meals there :(

A very high-end supermarket, something like our Jasons Marketplace.
The next day we visited PhuPing Palace! It's a winter palace for the royal family.

This is the prince's room over at the palace! My favourite as well.

The buggy driver took this photo for us, and I sure wasn't expecting him to be so good at taking photos, but I should have suspected something when he insisted on taking a photo using my phone instead of my camera)! When I saw the photo I was like WOW.

Doi Suthep

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden

After that we visited a Hilltribe exhibition village, which is basically a village where they gathered several tribes to live there together for the convenience of tourists to visit.
The tribe that we wanted to see the most was the Karen tribe, aka Long Neck tribe. Feels so surreal to be able to see them in person after learning about them from encyclopedias and documentaries.
At first I wasn't sure if I should go see them because I find it quite unethical? That's why I decided not to see the elephants and tigers. But then I read that the tribes living in that village rely on such visits to sell their products and stuff, and some seek refuge there. In short, they are not forced to live there (I think).

And then we had FUJI for dinner again hahaha

Stay tuned for more!
