Everland, you are the reason why I extended my trip
2014-10-16 05.25.45 1

As mentioned in one of my earlier posts, Everland is one of the factor that made me extend my trip after finishing my work stuff

It just doesn't make sense for me to not go just because traveling there is a bitch (it's a long 2 hours journey)

By the way, there is one thing that I need to highlight.

I'll skip the details of how to get there since my blog is not a travelogue. But the thing I need to highlight, which all the travelogue blogs I've read on Seoul for my research failed to mention, is the mechanics of the bus stop.

Okay calling it mechanics sounds so complex and all. But well the thing I want to highlight is that when I got to the bus stop, I saw many different queues which I figured is the queue for the different buses. But thing is, how do you know which queue is for which bus?

So, 3 minutes was spent trying to figure out which queue I should join.

And then somehow some people even queued behind me and I'm like okay wtf is going on

THEN, while I was shifting myself to somewhere so that I'll not stand in people's way or form a wrong queue (wrong, because I don't even know what queue I have formed) I saw number plates ON THE FLOOR

Damn, aren't they bus numbers?

So my point is, please look out for the inconspicuous bus number signs ON THE FLOOR to figure out where to queue. I guess this doesn't apply to all bus stops in Seoul, because I only saw this at the Gangnam bus stop.

After another hour of traveling, I finally arrived at Everland!

There's a discount for foreigners; the usual price is 46,000WON, but after the discount it is 37,000WON! That's 9USD saved, fyi.

Anyway, I reached there before the park opened so I actually got to see their opening ceremony! It's my first time watching the theme park's opening ceremony! Not sure if all theme parks have one, or if it's just Everland, but it's so cute! The staff (I don't know what to call them, Everland calls them cast members which is weird) did this little dance, okay actually it's just some very elegant and fluid hand gestures, and aiyoh maybe it's their uniform. They are so damn cute! Like, can I bring a miniature version of them home please.

Anyway, 97% of the people who went to Everland that day were locals. Of which I would say a good 3/4 of them are students. Gekkhim was also pretty surprised to see so many students, since it's not a school holiday.

And it was very surprising to see them acting so barbarically. They spit on the floor, were constantly trying to cut the queue, kept pushing (I was like, kids, please back off. The queue is stagnant not because I am blocking you, but because it is simply not moving.), rowdy..

To me it came as quite a rude shock because all the adult Koreans I've encountered are very well mannered and polite. And I have always assumed that it must be their schools (& parents) which have been doing a great job, teaching them well right?

Maybe it just so happened that all the kids I met that day are just the rude bunch. But still, my impression of them just went all the way down.

Cui kids aside, all the Everland staff are so friendly! (actually to think about it, all the Koreans I've met are so friendly to me!) 2014-10-16 05.26.10 1
Ah T-Express. Allow me to clarify my earlier statement of Everland being the reason for my trip extension. Actually, T-Express is THE reason for my trip extension.

And it sure didn't disappoint!

I rushed over to that ride right when the doors of the amusement park opened, but I still had to queue for 1 hour. Which I later realise that it's considered short, because the estimated waiting time was 2 hours later in the afternoon. WHAT.

But I still managed to take the T-Express twice! Because I got myself a Q-Pass (every ticket holder is entitled to 1 T-Express Q-Pass) and so I just had to come back at the designated time stated on the pass. And I didn't need to queue at all!

Just so you know, my favourite seat on roller coasters is the last seat, because science has proven that the seat will give the strongest feeling of weightlessness, which translates into a more thrilling experience.

And thanks to the Q-Pass, I managed to take the last seat on the T-Express! (They'll let you choose your seats first before letting all the other people in the queue join in)

Because I love T-Express so much, I'm going to share with you some facts about it:

"T-Express is the world's fourth steepest wooden roller coaster. It is also the world's ninth fastest, fourth tallest, and sixth longest wooden coaster. It has been ranked the second best wood-tracked roller coaster for 3 years consecutively, since 2011."

This is the other bus where the windows are all sealed (the other bus where I saw the giraffe is an open-air bus) which makes sense because this bus brings us to see the predatory animals.

The sheep here are so clean! The ones at 清境農場 are so gross as compared to them.
