10/10 would recommend this amazing place, which is really cheap too! All these for just SGD30!
真地道京味府
闹市口南大街文昌胡同42号
(In between 复兴门 station and 西单 station)
JUST LOOK AT THEIR PEKING DUCK. IT'S LIKE x10000 TIMES BETTER THAN QUANJUDE
(We went to Quanjude as well, which we knew was a tourist trap prior to going, but decided to go ahead anyway because #tourist and it wasn't great. More on that in a later post.)
But okay, back to this duck-
IT WAS MINDBLOWING. Just look at that! All the fat has been rendered out, leaving a perfectly crispy skin, while the meat remains tender. That skin was like SO CRISPY THAT IT MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH.
I did not know such sensory experience exists.
豆汁: Fermented Mung Bean Milk
We were warned by many locals that it's awful, but should try it anyway because #tourist
It was revolting. It's like smelly tofu (without any of the pleasantness) in liquid form.
Qianlong Cabbage. This turned out to be the favourite thing I had in Beijing! It's raw cabbage coated with a sweet sesame dressing. So good.
Beijing's Zhajiang Noodles, which is different from the ones in Korea. I prefer the Korean one.
