I have a love-hate relationship with beach vacations.
I love the beach but I hate being under the Sun.
I want to play in the water but I don't want to get tanned.
But anyway, I have come to a compromise, where I'll just devote myself to some serious de-tanning after the trip (which is what I'm doing now, which involves wearing long-sleeved clothing no matter how hot it is.)
This trip is courtesy of my sister! She paid for the air fare + hotel, which is pretty much everything.
And she really put in alot of effort into surprising us!

Such as (pre)ordering a coconut for us onboard, goodness!
We stayed at The Danna Langkawi Hotel, which is seriously one of the best hotels I've stayed. Of course I can't consider myself as a traveler who has travelled extensively, but I don't see myself as a scrimp & save kind of traveler so I'm pretty lucky to have put up in quite a number of hotels throughout the years. Thing is, this hotel tops my list, hands down. Rooms are excellent, service is impeccable. Food wise, decently delicious.

The 4 year old hotel is built in a somewhat British architectural style. Think white walls, floor to ceiling windows, tiled floors...

THE BED IS SO COMFORTABLE. The bed frame is quite high, where I have to do a little leap to get up there.

We visited their cafe both afternoons and tried their high tea!

Very cool stirrer which is coated with sugar, so basically the sugar will dissolve into your tea as your stir it!

We went for the sunset cruise on the first evening, but it was meh.

All beach/sea photos that I take somehow looks like the Kodaline album cover... hmmm. Maybe I'm just thinking too much.
Anyway, the hotel takes their breakfast really seriously.
Apart from the usual buffet spread, they also have the ala carte buffet menu which you can order.

OMG i can stuff myself with pancakes to death.
We rented a car to drive around the island for this trip, and I think driving around the island is pretty manageable. Forget about the GPS, because they don't work. Maybe it's just our GPS, but I think the reception here isn't really good to begin with...

Lovely roads which looks like a set out of a horror movie at night.

We also took the cable car ride, which is one of the must-dos in Langkawi.
Look at how steep it is!

Anyway, one of the highlights of this trip is my little parasailing experience.

Gosh, it's so so so so fun! Not scary at all, really.
It's so nice to be floating up there, and look around. So fun!

We also had a seafood feast in one of the must-try restaurants, called Orkid Ria. We had 2 lobsters, squid, a fish, a prawn dish, with some other dishes for SGD165 only!

We also visited some of the other tourist attractions, which sucked.
For example, the seven wells waterfall, which I think has dried up already.
Maybe I'm just spoilt. No waterfall can beat my 烏來瀑布... (read here)

Great trip, which left me physically exhausted but mentally rejuvenated!
