So, I'm back from a really fulfilling trip in Taiwan! It's the rare kind of trip where you feel ready to come home not because you are tired or unhappy, but because you are satisfied and feel that 好了,玩够了,可以收拾心情回家了。
I guess I'll never stop feeling amazed by Taiwan. This is my 5th trip there but it still feels like my first. Seeing and learning so many different things, constantly being wowed by how friendly they are. (Once, we were looking at the map by the road and this guy just came to us and asked where we were heading to, and then gave us directions!)
We went there by Scoot, and it's astonishing horrible. I have to admit that I'm a pampered kid who flies by SQ almost all the time (unless SQ doesn't fly to that place...) So I've mentally prepped myself by lowering my expectations.
But still, it was crap.
Leg space was OKAY for my 175cm frame, chair was not comfortable at all. And one huge problem for me was the lack of information. I had no idea when our plane was expected to arrive, or how long more till we touch down... etc.Basically I was just looking at my watch every 15 minutes and estimating how long more till we arrive. But that's just the small little stuff. On our flight there, there was a medical emergency 1 hour into our flight, so we had to u-turn back to Singapore. So anyway, long story short, our 4+ hours flight became 8 hours (since we couldn't get off the plane)
The plane was so dirty too. Sarah found a suspicious looking/boogie looking thing behind the head cover. Eww! And then there's the candy wrappers and dirt on the floor.
Horrendous flight aside, everything else was great in Taiwan!
Spent our first 4 days in Taichung!
Our first (real) meal in Taiwan! It was weirdly good.
Since there was no MTR in Taichung, we travelled around via public buses most of the time.
The original pearl milk tea.
木瓜牛奶 OMG thank god for 北回. I couldn't find the 木瓜牛奶 stall which blown my mind away the first time I came to Taichung, but anyway 北回 is equally good. yumz
Our room in Taichung! We stayed in CityInn Hotel Plus, which I strongly recommend to everyone! There's a theme for each floor and the rooms are so cute! The staff there are very friendly too!
Day 2:
We missed our bus to 日月潭 so in the end we booked a cab that brought us to 日月潭 and 溪頭!
Legendary tea eggs at 玄武寺
Attempting sit and reach
FAT PIG ALERT. omg we saw this pig on our way back to Taichung and it was so fat that we just had to get the cab uncle to stop by the road and let us take a closer look! The uncle must be thinking "城市来的小孩", lol.
Stay tuned for more photos from my trip!
