On our 2nd last day, xinyu and I headed over to 烏來! It's a small little town famous for their hot springs and aboriginal culture (inhabited by 泰雅族)
I wouldn't say that travelling there is difficult, but it definitely requires effort. After taking the metro to Xindian, which is all the way at one end of the xindian line, you'll have to take a 40minute bus ride up hill. We went on a weekday but the bus was still very packed! I think that's the only public bus that goes up there so both locals and tourists have to take that bus to get up there. Imagine having to stand all the way while the bus drives up a winding path - not easy.
The bus takes you to the small town and from there, walk another 30 minutes to the waterfall!
As you can see, there's really not a lot tourists . Most of the tourists there are either local Taiwanese tourists or Japanese.
Pretty or what! Maybe it's just me, I love such views! The view throughout the 40minutes bus ride is something like this as well, winding rivers and all. Maybe that's why the 40minutes felt much shorter than it really is.
The walk towards the waterfall! Xinyu and I had no idea if we were really on the right path, because all signage just disappeared. But anyway we asked a couple of people along the way and they assured us that we'll get there in 30minutes.
THE WATERFALL! My photo seriously doesn't do any justice to it at all. It is really very, very beautiful. I felt very 感动 when I saw it. Even though I've travelled to quite a number of places with really beautiful sceneries, nothing compares to this. Maybe because it took me abit of effort to get there, which made me appreciate it even more. I don't know. But I just love this place, and it's easily one of the prettiest places I've ever been to.
We tried the local aboriginal food for lunch!
That's my roommate trying to break apart the bamboo - fail.
The very friendly lady which taught us how to open the bamboo, suggested what we should try and asked me to take photos of everything but her. Of course I had to sneak a photo of her!
Was so reluctant to leave the place!
Going back to 烏來 is definitely on things-to-do-before-i-die!
On our way down, my fearless roommate decided that she wanted to soak her feet in the river, despite the cold weather. There were actually quite a handful of locals IN BATHING SUIT swimming in the river. The water was so cold!!
She came up after 5 minutes, lol.
Cherry blossom!
After that we went to a corner cafe in hope of spotting 黑人哥。
And we did see him! But he was on the phone throughout so we didn't ask him for a photo.
He wasn't as tall as I expected! Still tall, but wasn't giant-tall.
Drinks at the cafe were meh.
And this post is the last post of my Taiwan trip, since I didn't take any photos on the last day!
Dear Taiwan, when can I visit you again?
Note: Read Day 1 to 8 of my trip if you haven't!
